This combination contains calcium carbonate and vitamin which are used together to protect bones and it also helps to maintain and built the bones stronger or improves strength. They cause the mineralization of bones by enhancing the movement of calcium and phosphorus.

Calcium carbonate is the salt of calcium and is mainly used as dietary supplement. Calcium is used for maintaining healthy bones, muscles and nervous system, heart. It is also indicated as antacid which is used to relieve heartburn, acid indigestion or stomach upset.

Vitamin D3 is water -soluble vitamin and it helps in the absorption of calcium. It regulates the calcium level. It works opposite to that of parathyroid gland.

Mechanism of Action-

Calcium carbonate improves bone mineral density and reduces bone loss.
Vitamin D3 causes the absorption of both calcium and phosphorus by enhancing its level in the blood stream and promote the renal absorption of calcium also, enhances the intestinal absorption of calcium.

It is absorbed orally from the small intestine
It is 50-80% bound to plasma protein
It is metabolized to 25 -hydroxycholecalciferol
It is excreted via bile into feces
